History
Noomi Hart is a Finnish born- Australian Artist based in Melton. She began painting with oils at a very young age and began selling Artwork at only 13. In her formative teenage years as an artist she had the joy of working with a professional artist on her first large scale neighbourhood mural project for her local public library, and has since been inspired to create artwork on a large scale.
Noomi is largely self-taught, but, encouraged by her high school mentors she developed a love for painting Plein Air. Noomi continued her education in the arts after completing secondary school and she studied for her Certificate IV in Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft. Her course propelled her more deeply into Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Pottery.
Influences and Techniques
Today, Noomi's preferred mediums are acrylic, oil paints and clay although she is often inspired to use a variety of materials, often what can be found or is on hand. Her style of painting has been described as slightly illustrative but she also uses Photorealism style, especially with landscapes; a love which comes from having travelled and lived in much of the country and being raised to appreciate and enjoy nature.
Noomi has been influenced by her study of Photorealism, Impressionism and Surrealism. She admires techniques used by early Australian Artists such as Fredderick McCubbin and Arthur Streeton to convey the harshness and bright light, true to the Australian landscape.
Her use of bright and vibrant colours is her way of representing emotions that she associates with the subject matter of her art. She is sometimes also inspired by her dreams/daydreams - something that she looks forward to exploring further in her art.
Philosophy
Noomi's Artistic philosophy involves connecting with nature by being out in it and using the experience of life and new growth to reset the mind, revive and create Art that brings you to a place of calm and freshness. Her focus is not on the meaning of Art or being obsessed with Politics of Art, but rather on the practice of creating that, which expresses gratefulness for the basics of life and nature and creating work which represents a part of life that she is experiencing personally and sharing it.
